About
Lolita Tomsone is a writer, publicist, and director of the Žanis Lipke Memorial in Riga—a museum about resistance, humanity, and one Latvian family who thought hiding Jews in a bunker under their woodshed was a perfectly reasonable wartime project. She has written for magazines "Rīgas Laiks", "Kino raksti" and Satori.lv, mostly about cultural events, everyday life, and the many ways humans manage to be both ridiculous and profound—often simultaneously. She has translated Signe Baumane’s feature film "My Love Affair with Marriage" into Latvian, which means she now knows several entirely useless words for brain synapses in at least three emotional registers. Her work is guided by curiosity, feminism, and the faint but persistent hope that cinema and storytelling might occasionally make people slightly less awful.
